THE AUTHOR

EDWARD F. O’KEEFE is the CEO of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation. He previously spent two decades in broadcast and digital media at ABC News, CNN, and NowThis, during which time he received a Primetime Emmy Award for his work with Anthony Bourdain, two Webby Awards, the Edward R. Murrow Award, and a George Foster Peabody Award for ABC’s coverage of 9/11. A former fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, he graduated with honors from Georgetown University. He was born in North Dakota and lives in New York with his wife, daughter, and son.

Selected to lead the development of the new presidential and museum library from conception, including overseeing annual budget, full-time employees, and the selection of an architectural firm and site location/land acquisition. The five-phase plan for construction is expected to begin in 2023, with the grand opening in 2026.

Appointed fellowship to conduct research on future of streaming news, creating sustainable financial models, and consumer engagement. Published first of its kind industry research, “Streaming War Won,” on the future of journalism and streaming news.

Promoted into positions of greater responsibility, culminating in role overseeing digital for franchises, partnerships and revenue development, spanning mobile, social, video, podcasts, newsletters and subscription. During tenure, led premium businesses, novel content creation and strategy to catapult CNN to No. 1 in digital rankings for three consecutive years.

Recruited to build content strategy and team for first mobile streaming social news network. Universally regarded as the place where mobile social video began, NowThis today has 140 employees and is the No. 1 video news brand in social media.
